About Me

maya pottenkulam
Maya Pottenkulam is a sculptor, painter & potter residing in Kodaikanal, India. The last decade, though, has seen her travel, live and exhibit in North America and Europe. Her body of work examines the dual process of the loss of identity and self-discovery, that occurs in establishing a life away from familiar customs, in an unfamiliar environment. She finds her inspiration in the long visual history of the Indian subcontinent, particularly evident in its textiles, structure and ornamentation, which has a free-flowing organic sensuality
